A loan has to be repaid on time. Before you sign, check the interest rate, the initiation and monthly service fees, any credit life insurance and the total amount you will repay, and make sure the repayments fit your budget. If you pay late, the lender can add default interest and collection costs, and missed payments can be reported to credit bureaus. Under the National Credit Act, a lender must check that you can afford the loan. Check the lender in the NCR register before you apply.
