African Bank loan application: online, app or branch

African Bank’s FAQ says you can apply for a loan online, over the phone or at your nearest branch. Online, the personal loan page asks you to log in first (“Login and apply” or “Register and apply”). After you apply, your information is reviewed and, if the loan is awarded, the amount is “paid directly into your bank account”.

What it checks: African Bank says it first needs your income and expenses, with documents such as “your pay slip, a bank statement and proof of residence”, and then checks your accounts at the credit bureau and the National Loans Register to work out what you can afford. The personal loan page also has a “Do I qualify?” button and a loan calculator.

Repayment: your dates are on the front page of your agreement. The first repayment is due seven days after the loan is deposited; the other instalments fall on the first day of each month. You can repay by payroll deduction, debit or stop order, or African Bank can deduct the money on the day you are paid.

Not sure a bank is the fastest route? Crediwise, Creditbar and other online lenders are in the loans list.

African Bank consolidation loan

African Bank’s consolidation loan lets you “mix ’n match up to 5 loans into 1”. Its page says the loan has a fixed interest rate, and that “no settlement quotes are required”: you give proof of payment that your loans have been settled. It also offers a break: “Choose your break on your qualifying consolidation and for one month, take a break on your repayment.”

You can apply online 24/7 in the African Bank app or through online banking, in a branch, or through the call centre on 0860 333 004. A new loan has its own cost, so compare the total you will repay with what your old loans cost; when a consolidation loan helps shows how.

The African Bank 12% loan

African Bank sells a separate “12% Loan”. Its page says the rate is fixed, so repayments stay the same, and that you can apply online: you enter your contact and financial details, confirm a one-time PIN (OTP) and, if you qualify, see an indicative quote “in seconds”. The page calls it “a low interest rate fixed at 12%” and does not say whether 12% is a yearly rate or what fees and credit life add (checked 28 Oct 2026). Ask for the quotation and the total repayable before you sign.

African Bank loan terms, eligibility and contact

Do I qualify for an African Bank loan?

African Bank decides after it checks your income, expenses and credit record. Use the “Do I qualify?” button on its personal loan page, or apply and read the quotation. It lists its checks in the FAQ (pay slip, bank statement, proof of residence, credit bureau and National Loans Register).

Can I get an African Bank loan if I am blacklisted or under debt review?

African Bank’s loan pages and FAQ do not say how it treats either (checked 28 Oct 2026). Its FAQ tells customers who are over-indebted to call 011 207 4500. For what lenders look at, see loans with a bad record and loans under debt review.

How do I check my African Bank loan application status?

African Bank’s site does not describe an application-status page (checked 28 Oct 2026). Call its customer contact centre on 0861 111 011.

What is the African Bank contact number?

0861 111 011 for the customer contact centre (email CExperience@africanbank.co.za). For a payment arrangement it lists 011 207 4500. Its registered office is 59 16th Road, Midrand, Johannesburg.

Important information

Steps and contact details come from the African Bank personal loan, consolidation loan, 12% Loan, FAQ and contact pages (africanbank.co.za), read on 28 Oct 2026. African Bank can change them. Amounts, terms and the registration number are in the blocks above, each with its source and date. A registered credit provider must assess whether you can afford a loan before it lends. Being listed in the NCR register is not an endorsement by the regulator or by Tasamira. Tasamira is a comparison site: it is not African Bank and does not decide loans.

  • A loan has to be repaid on time. Before you sign, check the interest rate, the initiation and monthly service fees, any credit life insurance and the total amount you will repay, and make sure the repayments fit your budget. If you pay late, the lender can add default interest and collection costs, and missed payments can be reported to credit bureaus. Under the National Credit Act, a lender must check that you can afford the loan. Check the lender in the NCR register before you apply.
